Not to harsh on your otherwise glorious summer, but while your out there (like me) enjoying a relatively clean beach, remember that our folks down south still got it pretty shitty. While everyone and their mom wants to blame Obama, BP, crooked politicians and the like, the gulf, the animals, and the people still suffer. Don’t forget it, most importantly, don’t let our politicians think we forgot it.
If you are a regular in the blogosphere you may have heard a few things about this new project of ours. It’s The Co.’s first ever footwear collaboration with one of the pioneers of the “grown folk sneaker” Etnies Plus. After my first few sit-downs with EP designer Rob C., it was evident that this one was going to be special. In this case, inspiration came from nostalgia. Both of us remembering the boots/shoes our father’s wore, how they heavy and uncomfortable they were, and how hard they worked in them. From there we set out to make a work boot that any man could wear day in and day out. In the office or in the garage these boys were made to work and feel good doing so. The “Califas” boot won’t be in stores until the fall, but don’t worry, we’ve got plenty more to cooked up until then.
So I know Mr. John Hall through The Co.’s work with Digital Gravel. I haven’t heard from him in a while and apparently he’s been a busy dude. He hit me up a few weeks ago for a interview on his new blog project Typo-Graphical.com. Now I’ve done my share of design digging on this great internet of ours, and honestly it gets boring. Not this one though. John’s definitely done his homework on these post, keeping them all fresh and informative. Not to mention he’s got pretty good taste in designers (shameless plug #1). Proof is in the posting, check it here. (shameless plug #2)
Dice Magazine. Know all over the world for their epic contribution to all things motor and art. Dean and the boys just recently drop issue #30. There is, or should I say was a nice little gift from The Co. to go along with it, but apparently you knew that already. They ran out after the day after the new issue came out! Thanks to our new buddies at Dice and thanks to you nice folks out there supporting the cause.
Hey, the best and worst thing about the end of the year is the “best and worst” of the year. Our pals over at MashKulture.net put their best t-shirt list together and guess what, we’re in it! Stoked to be lined up next to brands like FUCT, Alphanumeric, and pretty much every other brand on this list. Big shout to Mark over at MashKulture, I’m sure he had a vote in for us. We’ll see you next year homies.
Forgive the lack of post, I’m workin’ ova here! Anyway, got some nice little surprises from Rob B. (Flying Panther Tattoo). He was up in San Jose this weekend at the San Jo Tattoo Convention working and sending me phone pics of all the rad folks sporting LWR at this amazing event. I’m definitely getting my ass out there next year. Thanks Rob!
You guess it, we’re both featured in the latest Dub Magazine. The nice folks at Dub were crazy enough to think I had something interesting or even coherent to say for their “Taste Makers” section of the mag this month. Big thanks to Kristie Bertucci and JonRod for putting the interview together. Please don’t send me any hate mail about my Nike comment.
If you haven’t seen this around the shops lately keep an eye out. The epicness that is Vice takes you on a tour of our section of the world Southern California, with the added bonus of TJ! Completely hilarious and interesting at the same time, and a little bit of Lovewright in there too, unfortunately we’re next to the Riverside article? No offense Riverside, but we’re from San Diego and well…shit what else do I have to say?
