I’m home for a bit before I’m out to Vancouver. Our buddy and European Dist. Ante (Swedun) is having a birthday shin-dig on the 5th. I just missed lining up Stockholm while I was out there, which was probably the right choice considering the pounding my liver was taking. But if you are anywhere around Ante’s part of the world make sure you to wish him a happy birthday, it think it looks like this in his native language…swuyw oieus op newohwsz!
Just landed in Denmark, Copenhagen to be exact. On the second leg of a 3 part Euro trip. Met some good folks and found what could be a pretty nice shop for The Co. in Manchester, even got a chance to watch my first Man U. game. Rooney killed it, football hooligans are even better! So far this one is turning out to be the best “inspiration” trip yet. Its almost making all those weeks and weeks of tech packs worth it. We finish off the trip in Berlin, a first for me…I’m planning on challenging the first German I see to a drink off. Don’t expect pictures, I might not make it out.
Friend and multi-talented photo/film guy Garvin Ha was lurking around the park in Coronado a few days ago and met up with one of my favorite people and all around ripper Barrio Mike. I’m not sure if Barrio got his name from ripping the Barrio Logan park on the reg or because his crail slides are so hood!
SB, like most brand/sales managers likes to keep me on my toes. By keeping me on my toes I mean he spends most of his waking moments trying to figure out how to squeeze one more drop of creative juice out of what’s left of my 3 brain cells. I’ll just leave you with this photo as a hint of what he’s been tormenting me with lately.
Lovewright Co. correspondent Reese Pendarvis sends us desk jockey’s some love from one of my favorite places in the world Tokyo, Japan. Supposedly, our buddy Reese was out there “working” and by “working” I mean drinking heavily and having impure thoughts about pseudo-submissive japanese girls. Watch out Japan, Reese and The Co. are coming for ya!
So I know Mr. John Hall through The Co.’s work with Digital Gravel. I haven’t heard from him in a while and apparently he’s been a busy dude. He hit me up a few weeks ago for a interview on his new blog project Typo-Graphical.com. Now I’ve done my share of design digging on this great internet of ours, and honestly it gets boring. Not this one though. John’s definitely done his homework on these post, keeping them all fresh and informative. Not to mention he’s got pretty good taste in designers (shameless plug #1). Proof is in the posting, check it here. (shameless plug #2)
Around the same time that my baby boy was born, his uncle Ryan was designing all your favorite weapons for the new COD game. The same game that is currently reducing productivity levels and upsetting relationships world wide. During the design and testing process, he sent me this screen shot of the M14EBR. Upon closer inspection, I realize why he sent it…the serial number at the bottom is actually my son’s birthday. Forever immortalized in the worlds best selling video game ever and he wasn’t even a month old yet. There’s even a nod to our home town on the side in yellow, SD-619. If the rest of the world hasn’t told you yet, good job uncle Ryan.
Kind of a new favorite thing of mine that I’ve been seeing more and more on the web. Classic movie posters getting the mid-century treatment! A-mazing, I wish they could repackaged my whole life in mid-century form and play reruns of it on Nick At Nite! That made no sense, whatever…
