Currently, most of the people that supply you with some sort of product that you use in your every day life. In this case clothing, are scrambling to find a way to keep their factories in China from completely refusing to produce their goods. You see, China has officially thrown down the gauntlet. They’ve taken the money that we’ve sent their way in the form of using them for cheaper labor and faster, mass production and put it back into their own pockets. Their government has helped build it’s own factories to help supply products and jobs to it’s own people (that’s different). Now, with less man power to produce for non-chinese business, costs and overall availability are damn near tripling. We know by now that the good ol US of A has sent jobs packing to cheaper parts of the world for years and this won’t be the first or last time it will kick us in the ass.  But with our current financial state, and education on blue-light special, we maybe be royally fucked for sometime. I’m not necessarily ready to turn in my “gobal super power” card in yet either, but we might need to get used to not being number 1 real soon.

So, when your favorite brand start upping their prices for that nice new piece of denim, check the tags. They may be starting to fall inline with another new trend…made in the USA. Don’t be alarmed, it’s been done here before, and with a little luck it can be done again.

Tribal Meetings

The Co. had a chance to meet up with new pal Patrick over at Mosley Tribes a bit ago to talk about a few things. There are many, many amazing things going on at the MT camp and Patrick was nice enough to share a bit with us. Unfortunately they are the “no photo” kind of things as well, so you’ll have to take my word for it…awesome! Big thanks to Patrick for the talk and tour. Some radness is definitely on the way, so keep your eyes peeled.

Jyumoku. Recycled, Radness.

Life takes us all on few different turns, creative types seem to have a few more lefts and rights then average . That holds true for my  former clasemate and buddy, Ted Galvez. I first met Ted in college almost ten years ago. We were both hungry advertising students, and even back then you could tell Ted was going to do some great things. Recently, through a little facebook lurking, I found out about his newest project. Jyumoku. Amazingly handmade bags that he’s pieced together using “recycled” materials. To  quote another friend Len (02Motorworks), it’s not the first time that someone has made bags in this fashion, but Ted definitely brings a unique take on it. Whether its the time and care put into the construction, or the beautiful mix of fabrics, Jyumoku is definitely a brand to watch. Keep following those turns, and keep up the good work buddy!

Hey, I know its been a minute but hang in there. The Co. is working on some new looks for the site, taking a few steps into the future (fingers crossed) and doing it all on our own (toes, eyes, and all other body parts crossed). All I can say is soon, be ready!

I learned a long time ago that there are bad guys on both sides of town. I can’t say that I would agree with the left or the right. Recently I had a chance to watch Michael Moore’s latest documentary on capitalism and it’s role in our economic meltdown. Whether you agree with the guy’s opinions or not, I have to give it to him for doing the work he does. And anyone who pisses off politicians as much as he does has to be doing something right. Check it when you get a chance and find out why I now feel our pals in Germany and Japan owe us beers for life!
